Merriam-Webster defines paradise as, “a place or state of bliss, felicity, or delight.” When I saw this location for the first time, I knew it would be the perfect place for me to shoot in this dress. This location and this dress together put me in a state of paradise. Even though it’s literally in the back of an Atlanta apartment complex, I felt a sense of serenity. Being there at 7 am is probably the reason for the quietness, for there were only people out walking their dogs and staring at the brown girl in the lace dress. The dress we will get to shortly!

Lately, I have began to look at my journey and the vessels who amplify it in a whole different light. This photo shoot put a lot into perspective for me, my thinking has changed. I have began to actually apply the things I have been taking in for the past couple of years from friends, family and strangers. While on this journey I have been learning so much about myself, the things I want and don’t want, and most importantly, what I deserve.

I’m ready to step into my power, I am a very unique individual, who can excel at anything, as long as a plan is put into place.

The beautiful dress I’m wearing above has been in my closet for a while, I haven’t had the chance to wear it, or maybe I was too afraid to wear it. Wouldn’t you be? The “Tropical Paradise” dress was created by the amazing Samantha Garvey of S. Garvey Collective. This dress was also one of the looks in her debut ‘Why the Caged Bird Sings’ Runway Production, but the model wore it in a purple tone. The dress is soft, feminine, and sexy. It’s a wrap dress with a slit on the side that gives you major leg when you step. It gives you a feeling, the feeling of a sexy freedom. The openness of the dress made me feel closer to the outside and it was no need for me to hide anymore. I know it sounds weird or maybe even crazy but I’m so glad I decided to wear this dress, on that day, at that location.
