I am so late with this post, it’s almost sad. Toward the latter part of last year I was so caught up in things that would not benefit me or my brand, it’s almost embarrassing. Nonetheless, it is a new year, and I just plan on being great. The photos above were taken in New Orleans during Mardi Gras, one of the best festivals I have been to in my entire life. I thoroughly enjoyed my time in New Orleans, even though I didn’t do many of the things I planned on doing. The city was filled with amazing people and enticing music. The best part for me, was when the guys and I made our way to Frenchman Street, and listened and watched a band play in the street for their onlookers.  My outfit choices during Mardi Gras were all over the place, and so were my thoughts. I chose to give details on this outfit first, because I am wearing a pair of my favorite jeans and a crop top designed by my favorite designer. Let us dig in.

Just in case you haven’t figured it out, the Oculus Festival Crop Top, is an S.Garvey Collective original. I’m not the one to really follow trends, so this was my first investment into an off the shoulder top. Honestly, I’m glad I made the investment. This top was a great choice for New Orleans, and after the top had sat in my closet for months and then finding out that the weather would be almost perfect, I had to bring this beauty out. While to me, many off the shoulder tops seem uncomfortable and likely to restrict you from doing certain things with your arms, this crop top was perfect for the festive activities I decided to partake in. Aside from the appropriate color scheme (purple, gold, and green), the print is what makes you take a second look. The Ankara crop top will be in heavy rotation all Spring and Summer ’17.

Now, up until I bought these jeans in May of last year, I haven’t purchased a pair of denim jeans since low rise bootcut jeans were in style. Even though I still love my bootcut 7 for All Mankind Jeans, I have fallen in love with these Topshop Joni Jeans. If you look at the photos above closely, I’m sure you can see why. From the fit, to the way they have changed colors due to a few washes, I love these jeans. Unlike most highrise jeans, they come above my belly button, which I like. I know they may look like I can’t breath in them, but they are super comfortable. The Topshop Moto Joni jeans are so comfortable, you will probably catch me in a white pair this summer. If you don’t own a pair of Joni Jeans, you may want to try a pair, especially if you catch them on sale.

If you’re wondering what to wear to a music or street festival this spring or summer, try a printed off the shoulder crop top with a pair of highrise jeans, and a great pair of low top tennis shoes. I got the details on these rare Puma’s in my next post.
