PLAID + THE NEW YEAR

It’s the 7th day of 2016, and I don’t know why, but it’s just setting in that it’s actually a new year. Toward the end of 2015, I went through a lot, so much that I thought I wouldn’t be able to make it to 2016 with a sane (well, my definition of sane) mind. With that being said, the mantra “what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger”, was very prevalent in 2015. I will not bash 2015, as a whole, because there will be and has been ups and downs every year, but I had to make some life changing decisions and didn’t know how I would be able to live with them. I also had some really good times last year, and met some amazing people. On another note, I didn’t make New Year Resolutions (I never do), but I set goals for myself in 2015 to accomplish in 2016. I know that sounds like resolutions, but the difference is I actually started working towards the goals that I set. I didn’t wait for the New Year to come. To those that set resolutions and didn’t start working toward them until the year started, let me know how you are coming along with those in a few months.

Now on to this plaid set I’m wearing in the photos above.

Let me just say first off, that this is an S.Garvey piece! One that I will wear over and over and over, I may not wear it as a set the next few times, but the pieces will be in rotation, especially the pants. The plaid “Studious” set was custom made by Samantha, who always designs and sews like it’s her last piece she will ever make. Don’t believe me, check out her portfolio. In the past, I was very funny about the clothes that I wore.  I didn’t want to wear clothing that was too tight because I felt I was too skinny and I would just look like a stick in everything. In 2015 I began to accept my slim, yet curvy figure and own it. Today, you couldn’t tell me that I’m not a sight to see, as far as my body shape. This outfit will always be one of my favorite S.Garvey pieces because of the way it fit, which in turn, made me appreciate what I was blessed with. S.Garvey pieces will have that effect on you, so get you some.

Honestly, this blog was the best thing that ever happened to me, along with taking these photos for the outfit details, I feel like myself again. I think 2016 will be the year that I get closer to being the woman that I’ve been longing to be.

Happy New Year!!!
