I’m sure you all were expecting some fancy, over the top pairs of shoes, but I’m really a simple girl. I love being comfortable, but I like my comfort with a twist, or as we used to call it, “some flavor.” The shoes pictured above are shoes that I have owned for years. I guess you could call me a collector of shoes. I have counted my shoe boxes along with shoes I own that did not come in boxes, that were bought from places like TJ Maxx and Nordstrom Rack. Saying I’m a collector makes me feel better I guess, but who is to say that you can own too many pairs of shoes. I can still remember the first pair of shoes I bought with my own money, money I had actually worked a job for, a pair of Jordan Retro 13’s. As you can see I still have not disclosed the number of pairs of shoes that I have.
These boots I really consider as a pair of boots that literally go with anything, whether its a mini skirt, a maxi skirt, or a long pleated skirt/dress. I have even worn these boots (pictured above) with a lace 2-piece, which is not really an ensemble expected to be worn with this style of boots. I bought these boots around 2007 or 2008 from Urban Outfitters at Lenox Mall. My college friends and I had driven from Montgomery, for one of our many visits home from school. The Rodeo boots are by We Who See, a footwear brand based in New York. I’m not sure what attracted me to these boots but they have been the base of many compliments. People would actually get upset when I told them that I had purchased the shoes years and years before the current time of the inquiry, so it was telling if the specific style was still available. These two-toned boots have been taken with me to Miami and LA, which is a little weird being that those are warmer parts of the United States.
The purple chucks were bought while I was in high school, had to be in 2004 or 2005. Those were some good years, by the way. My love for these shoes grew during college, they are somewhat comfortable and easy to throw on. These old and dingy Converse are also one of my favorites because purple is a color I have deemed as ‘my favorite color’ since middle school. These shoes have been through it all, including falling out of a suitcase onto street and getting ran over at the airport. Honestly, speaking, the high top Converse Chuck Taylor are a pair of universal shoes, shoes that I remembered being worn by the socially awkward or nerds. I also remember them being the ‘it’ shoe for many Westtcoast artists, with their khakis, hanging past their butts, and plaid button ups that were many sizes too big, but to me they are just one of my favorite pairs of shoes.
Remember that scene from Friday, when Smokey was trying to stop his car from rolling and his navy blue Converse was dragged along the concrete? Still one of the funniest parts of the movie, to me.
I like things that look different, especially when it comes to my footwear. I’m an exclusive lover, I would rather have things that not many people have or would go for. I’m thinking that’s the reason why these are my favorite pairs of shoes, and definitely Gray Style.
